The Harford County Volunteer Fire and Emergency Medical Services Association (HCVFA) is an “all hazards” organization responding to calls across the 527 square miles of Harford County, in northeast Maryland, and borders on neighboring Pennsylvania. HCVFA’s response area includes the Susquehanna River, the 16th largest river in the United States, the primary source of Harford’s 90 square miles of water. Harford is home to Aberdeen Proving Grounds (APG), a military installation location in Aberdeen and Edgewood. In all, we support a population of 256,000 people.
Our 12 ALL-volunteer fire and EMS organizations are comprised of 1,500 members, responding to approximately 8,000 fire and 25,000 EMS calls annually. APG provides fire and EMS protection via mutual aid agreements with the County. In addition, the HCVFA EMS Foundation staffs paid EMS personnel to cover vacant or partially vacant stations, in addition to two roving EMS supervisors.
